WHAT IS MY URL?
URL stands for Universal Resource Locator. It is the address of a page on the World Wide Web. Your blog also has an address. To find out your blog address/link/URL login at Blogger and click 'View Blog' link on the Dashboard. Your blog will open in a browser. Copy the link from the address bar of the browser and paste it in a Notepad file and save it. It will look like this :
http://MYBLOG.blogspot.com.
Here replace 'MYBLOG' with the actual name of your blog.
CUSTOM DOMAIN
To have an address like www.MYBLOG.com you will have to purchase a Domain Name first. Then you can create a blog at Blogger.com and redirect it to www.MYBLOG.com. Blogger will host the blog for free and you will only have to pay for the domain name.
PREFERRED DOMAIN
If you want an address like www.MYBLOG.blogspot.com add your blog to Google Webmasters Sitemaps and click on Tools in the sidebar and then on 'Set Preferred Domains'. Choose whether to use wwww or not in your blog url.
WHAT IS A PERMALINK?
Your posts will have different URLs also called as Permalinks. They will look like this :
http://MYBLOG.blogspot.com/YEAR/MONTH_NO/first-five-or-six-words-of-post-title.html.
To make sure that each of your post is on a different page enable Settings---->Archiving----->Enable Post Pages---->Yes and save.
HOW TO CHANGE A PERMALINK?
If you want to change the Permalink of a post create a new post. Transfer all the contents to it by copy and paste from the old post. Give it a new title and Publish it. Then delete the old post. Once a post is published you cannot change the Permalink (short for Permanent Link).
HOW TO CHANGE BLOG ADDRESS?
After your blog has been up for some time it is inadvisable to change the URL or link or address of the blog. This is because a new URL will cause it to start all over again with the search engines. Viewers searching for it will land up on the old URL which is deleted. Also deleted URLs are taken over by spammers to take advantage of their search engine Page Rank. So if you want to change the URL do so within the first few weeks of creating the blog.

This is great info for the beginner. I am totally clueless. So much to absorb. I am so glad I found you! And yes, cheers to you.
I am new to blogging and have been slowly learning. The info is really helpful for me, Thanks.
I have a custom domain name and have added a "contribute" Paypal button to it, but how do I then add a "follow up" forms page, like the ones on other candidate web sites? And then link that page to a "thank you" page, a "cancelled" page, and/or then maybe a "for volunteers" page?
Is this doable under Blogger?
(Here's an example:https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/yeswecan?source=20080505_NATCALL )
Any suggestions?

If you want to provide a downloadable form for viewers to download and print out then you have to create a Acrobat pdf or Word document on PC.
Then upload that file to free hosting and copy the link to it.
Next put that link in your blog post for donations.
To create pages in your blog just create posts and backdate them before publishing so that they do not appear on Main Page.
So, if I buy a URL through blogger, will it keep my blog as I already have it set up or will it "clear it" and I have to start all over?
Also--for the 10.00/yr...do they tell me when to renew or can you make it auto renew? Is privacy more do you know(bought through blogger)?
And, last question, how much "space" am I purchasing? What is blogger space limits (does it apply to each gmail address OR each unique blog even if you have 5 under one gmail address/open ID)?
Thanks! :)

happyasalarktoday,
When you use Custom Domains your blog remains on Blogspot. Only the address is redirected to dot com address.
Your name is kept private and no one knows you are the owner of the site. You can login to your domain manager to check when it comes up for renewal.
You are not purchasing any space. You purchase only the domain name. Blog remains on blogspot. Same conditions : No space limit for text.
You can direct ONE blog to ONE domain name. To direct five blogs yu will have to buy five domain names.
