SUBMIT BLOG TO SEARCH ENGINES
After creating your blog you have to submit it to the search engines so that they can index it and show it on their results page when people search for it. To submit blog to Google go to :
http://www.google.com/addurl/
Copy and Paste your blog link, type in a brief description in the Comments field and the word verification and click the Add URL button.
FASTER BLOG INDEXING
Millions of sites are submitted to Google every day and hence it may take some time for your blog to be indexed. A faster method is to persuade another blog owner (preferably one whose blog has a high Page Rank) to put the link of your blog in his. It should be a link without a NOFOLLOW tag. Then the search spiders will follow the link to your blog and index it also.
SUBMIT TO BLOG DIRECTORIES
Another method is to submit your blog link to a Blog Directory with a high Page Rank. Search spiders regularly crawl blog directories as they have new updated content and they will follow your blog link and index it faster. Just Google "free blog directory' to find them. Look for a directory with a high Page Rank and plenty of members. You can install Google Toolbar with the Page Rank tool to instantly find out the Page Rank. Get it For Firefox and for Internet Explorer.
BLOGS v/s WEBSITES
Blogs have frequently updated content and it is more easier to get them indexed than other websites.

Hi,
Here's a question nobody seems able to give me a clear answer to. When I submit my blog to a blog directory, should I ping my blog's URL address or its feed address? That is, for instance, http://myblog.blogspot.com or http://myblog.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default ??
That must be crucial, but I get quite different opinions from different "pros"..:-)
What are your thoughts?
John
Anonymous,
Blog directories can be of different types. Follow their instructions.
If it is a blog feed directory they may ask you to add your feed URL. Sometimes even if you make a mistake and add your blog URL, your feed URL can be 'autodiscovered' from it. See :
Feedburner and Blog Feeds.
